Wifi Security and MAC Addresses

There are many drawback of using and enabling wifi network mode on your broadband router. Though there re many security features designed to get rid of this problem and to keep the wifi safe and secure yet it is not 100% guaranteed that your wireless network won't be trapped and broken.

Wifi Security encryption modes are WEP, WAP, WAP-2, WAP-2 + PSK, shared on WEP etc. These modes are being widely used and recommended by the companies on their router hardware. But there are a lot softwares are available on internet that can hack and break your any security level of encryption. Now a question would be making rounds into your mind what does a hacking software actually do to break such an  encryption? The answer is simple : the irritation of a various combination  of letters and digits to reach the password key what we create and the time of security enabling.

Now we come to the right point. What is the best solution alongwith enabling such encryption that can guarantee us that our network would not be broken.

Answer is a MAC security. Mac address is a physical address given to a computer device at the time of manufacturing and it is a hardware part not a software part. so no-one can change to manipulate it to its convenience.

Which Wifi router is the safest in the market?
There are various companies manufacturing Wifi routers but all are not safe when we talk about wifi network security. I am using Belkins wifi router after going through deep research about this top-brass question. This router not only a excellent looking tool have but it gives excellent wifi network security and hardly ever breaks the signal strength. Most importantly i never ever felt that my laptop is not capturing wifi signals even when my router was switched on. Situation was not the same earlier with other products that I used.

Now how can a mac address can secure our wifi netowrk? Steps....
  1. Open your router admin page. you can simply do this by visiting ip address of your router (be default companies use it 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.x.x)
  2. Go wireless menu and choose security under it.
  3. You will see a MAC security tax under the security tab and it a text box requires you to enter the MAC address of the computing device that you want to grant access of your network.
  4. Enter the MAC address of your desktop, laptop or a smartphone into it and your wifi network is almost 100% safe now.
The devices listed into the mac safe list of your router can only access the network and rest will not be able to do so.
