Reinventing the wheel is hard, but with the Wedge Mouse Microsoft has done just that. In this case the venerable mouse wheel is gone replaced by a touch sensitive middle strip for scrolling and it detects horizontal scrolling as well – something with Windows 8's panorama style modern UI.
Even more surprising is the mouse's size which despite being smaller than the palm of your hand is comfortable to use for long periods thanks to the wedge shape which inspires its name. The Wedge Touch mouse is constructed from premium build materials too, though you'll need a Bluetooth connection which may be a problem with older PCs. On the plus side it will work easily with newer computers and Windows 8 tablets and means there is no need for a dongle to fill one of your USB ports.
